A remembrance service will be held in Vinette’s honor on Saturday, June 8, 11 am, at River Oaks Christian Church, in Fort Worth, TX.
Vinette Marie (Graber) Bomhoff (1937-2024), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, died on May 28, 2024, in Fort Worth, TX, surrounded by family.
“Vinnie” was born in Marion, SD on December 12, 1937, to Silas and Adina Graber, raised in a Mennonite farm community that valued worship, hard work, and care for each community member. Vinette loved music, and after graduating from Freeman Academy (SD), studied at Bethel College, in Newton, KS, where she earned degrees in music and teaching (as well as being named homecoming queen).
After graduation, Vinette met and married Howard “Barry” Bomhoff her life partner for 63 years. Vinette had a compassionate and inclusive heart and served as a teacher, homemaker, and adoption counselor alongside her daughter Becky.
Most of all, Vinette was a generous woman of deep faith and prayer who loved spending time with family, serving her church and community, and traveling abroad to serve, learn and fellowship with people from other races and cultures. Vinnie had a gift of hospitality, and her door was always open with good food, wine, and conversation.
Vinette is preceded in death by parents Silas and Adina, and brother Dennis, and is survived by husband Barry, as well as her children Brad (Linda) Bomhoff, Tom, Becky (Darrin) Ihnen, and Matt (Sonja) Bomhoff, grandchildren Kelsey, Kayla, Kilee, Jake, Mallory, Ashley, David, and Sarah, as well as ten great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to River Oaks Christian Church, 5613 Meandering Road, Fort Worth, TX 76114
