I, Sharon Kathryn Kleinsasser Saner Wollmann, was born July 12, 1951 to Verda (Graber) and Ruben P. Kleinsasser. Ruben died (May 19, 1952) when I was ten months old. My mother married Delmer “Bud” Saner (Jan. 15, 1954). Delmer adopted me and I was later bless with three little brothers, Bryan, Loren and Marlin.
I grew up on a farm east of Freeman. I went to Country School (North Star #66). I graduated from Freeman Academy in 1969. I attended Salem Zion Mennonite Church and was baptized by Rev. Virgil Gerig on June 3, 1968. I spent several summers cooking at Swan Lake Christian Camp. I attended Freeman Jr. College, graduating in 1972. At FJC, I met Lyle Wollmann, we got married April 22, 1973 and raised two wonderful sons, Jeff and Alex.
We farmed with Lyle’s parents for several years. Then Lyle got a job with a construction company. His work took us to Alliance Nebraska where I worked at a Dairy Queen; then in Rawlins Wyoming where I worked in a hospital dietary department and a steak house; then in Rock Springs, Wyoming I worked at a Drug Store Soda Fountain; and then in San Jose, Californian where I worked at Toys R Us.
We attended church in all the places we lived and I helped with Sunday School and Bible School. I was also a Boy Scout Den mother.
We moved back to South Dakota in 1986, and continued to farm. I worked at the Cornerstone Steakhouse, Woodbridge Candle Factory, and finally at Salem Mennonite Home where I was employed for 25 years. I was also our church janitor for 15 years.
I enjoy working in my flower garden, taking lots of pictures and working on photo albums and scrapbooks. I like music and usually have music playing no matter what I’m doing.
My greatest joys are my wonderful sons, Jeff and his wife Angie, and Alex and his wife Emily; and my beautiful grandchildren Allison, David, Cade, and Ainsley. I love spending time with them, reading stories, playing games, and baking cookies.
I was diagnosed with (ovarian) cancer in November 2021. I have to give my doctor and his medical team a lot of credit for me doing as well as I have up to now. But I also believe God answered a lot of prayers and He gave m these extra years to spend with my family.
I was well cared for by my wonderful family and I appreciate the kindness of my friends and church family.
Preceding Sharon in death are her parents Verda, Bud and Ruben; grandparents; Lyle; in-laws Mary and Solomon Wollmann; and niece Elicia Saner.
Grateful to have shared her life are her son, Jeffrey (Angie) and their children, Allison and David. Her son, Alex (Emily) and their children, Cade and Ainsley. Brothers, Bryan (Teresa); Loren (Jamie); and Marlin. Sister-in-law, Lynette (Richard) and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many dear friends.
