Phyllis Golder

Phyllis Golder, 77 of Bridgewater passed away Tuesday, May 12th in a traffic accident. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 19th at 10:30AM at the Trinity Community Church in Bridgewater. Visitation will be from 5PM to 7PM Monday at the church.

Phyllis R. Golder, daughter of Philip and Ruth (Auch) Lang was born on October 15, 1948 in Freeman, South Dakota. She grew up on the family farm outside of Freeman. She graduated from Menno High School, SD in 1966.

Phyllis married the love of her life, Gary Golder, on August 31, 1966. They settled in Bridgewater, SD where they enjoyed life together for 37 years. They were blessed with four beautiful children who in return blessed them with 23 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Phyllis enjoyed working with amazing people at Tel-Drug and AmeriPharm in Sioux Falls, SD. After her retirement, she worked part time at Casey’s and Total Stop in Freeman where she made many friends. Phyllis loved being around people and will be remembered for her sweet smile and kindness.

Family was an important part of Phyllis’ life. She was fortunate that some of the grandkids were near so she could attend their activities and sporting events. Phyllis also liked to adventure and enjoyed traveling, often with her family. In her later years she didn’t garden anymore, but she continued making for making her pickles that everybody loved!

Grateful for having shared her life are her children Jason Golder, Bridgewater, SD, daughter Anna (Golder) and husband John Munkvold, Freeman, SD, son Zebulon and wife Janelle (Johnson) Golder of Maryville, TN, and son Adam and wife Chelsey (Wyman) Golder of Salem, SD; and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
