Lucille Preheim

Lucille Preheim, 93, of Freeman passed away on Dec. 19th at Oakview Terrace. A visitation and viewing will be held on Friday Dec. 22nd from 5-7 pm at the Walter Funeral Home in Freeman. Graveside Services will be Saturday Dec. 23rd at 10 am at the Freeman City Cemetery.

Lucille Preheim was born to John and Lydia Stucky on September 2nd, 1930. She received most of her early education at a school near McPherson, Kansas. She moved with her family to a farm near Freeman, SD in 1944. On her first day of school there she unexpectedly had to take her 8th grade final exam. Nerves were running high, but she took it and passed!

She then went to Freeman Academy and Freeman Junior College, where she got a teaching certificate. She then taught country school for two years.

On September 28, 1959 she married Jasper Preheim. To this couple tow children were born, Kathleen and Kenneth. She spent her remaining years caring for her family. She enjoyed collecting recipes, cooking, flowers, gardening, and reading her Bible.

Lucille is preceded in death by her parents John and Lydia, husband Jasper, daughter Kathleen, sister Mildred, brothers; Herman, Eldon, Weldon, and Eugene.

She is survived by her son Kenneth.
