Glenn Schoppert 90 formerly of Sioux Falls, passed away Tuesday, January 31 at the Dells Nursing and Rehab Center.   Funeral services will be Saturday, February 4 at 10am at the Walter Funeral Home in Freeman with burial at the Freeman City Cemetery at a later date.

Glenn Edward Schoppert age 90 formerly of Sioux Falls, SD passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Dells Nursing & Rehab Center in Dell Rapids, SD.

Glenn was born on January 13, 1933, on his family’s farm near Freeman, SD to Edward & Louisa (Mutschelknaus) Schoppert. He was baptized on July 23, 1933, at his family church and confirmed on June 6, 1948, at the First Congregational Church in Scotland, SD. He attended country school and graduated from Freeman High School in 1951.

Following graduation, he served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955, during the Korean Conflict. During his time in the Army, he enjoyed participating in the Ft. Sill Chapel Choir. Returning to civilian life, he attended Nettleton College and went on to work for the US Postal Service for 30 years in Sioux Falls.

Glenn’s passion was antiques, specializing in glass ware. He was extremely knowledgeable in this field and known throughout the Midwest by people that shared the same passion.

Glenn was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother & sister-in-law, Pete & Wanda Schoppert; sister & brother-in-law, Theola & Chester Lien; sister & brother-in-law, Lorraine & Emil Larson; sister & brother- in-law, Clara & Earl Larsen; sister & brother-in- law, Elda & Julius Vetter; sister & brother-in-law, Elsie & Marv Nelles and 4 infant siblings, and nephew, Charles Larsen.

Left to treasure his memory are 10 nephews & nieces as well as their spouses and special friends Al & Linda Ljunggren.

Glenn had a great fondness for animals therefore memorials may be directed to the Sioux Falls Humane Society, or you may direct them to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
